Stills looking for a decent "comic" application. If anyone knows of one please drop me a line and let me know the name. This picture was accomplished using three or four apps I do have and while the result isn't too bad, it's still not what I'm after. Thanks to dmax at RP for posting this awesome shot of his better half.

Getting The Most Out Of A Shot

My friend, PattonFever from RP offers up another great picture to work with. This time around I thought I'd go for a dramatic yet simple effect. A little cropping and a little painting and there you have it. A pic with attitude. As always, click on image to see full size.

70s Video

Here's a little thing you can do with a picture that you've taken clowning around. Why not turn it into something like an old 70s VHS cover? Just combine the shot with a prison background, add some text and the VHS logo. To give it that aged 70s feel, just desaturate the photo a wee bit and mess with your colour balance sliders until you get that greenish tinge. That's it. You are now staring in a "B" movie thriller.

THE LAKE

Third year running, we've just returned from White Lake and without a doubt, our family's favourite week of the year. The weather was awesome and the water was warm and clear.
Thanks again to Danny Murphy for joining us. Wouldn't be the same without you man.

Ottawa Heart Institute Poster

What you see here is the most labour intensive project I've done to date. It was commissioned by the cardiology unit at the Heart Institute as a going away gift for Dr. Tony Tang. Designing the dry mounted plaque was extremely difficult due to its massive size (48 x36) and the tweaking and positioning of the 73 photographs. Being a celebratory event, I replaced Dr. Tang's dictaphone with a vector champagne goblet. Thanks go to Dr. Michele DeMargerie who recommended me for the job and assisted in the design and Dr. Richard Davies who supplied the photos and the means to complete the job. I understand the going away celebration went well and the the gift was well received by all who attended.

Girls with tiaras and wands. Not sure what that's all about but the girls love 'em. When my daughter and her friend showed up in full regalia I saw an opportunity for a picture. I call this one "Garden Faeries".

This Year's Teacher's Gifts

As in past years, we've done up little appreciation packets for the teachers that include a CD and home made peanut brittle. Here is this year's covers. Hats off to my favorite photog, Pilate, for shooting this brilliant sunset.

Another Restoration

Doing restorations is a very subjective endeavour. You have the option of attempting to restore the photo to what you believe is its original state, or, you can take the photo and slightly modernize it to give a fresh new perspective. It really comes down to what the client wants and is willing to pay for. Here I've gone the latter route and "freshened" the photo. Normally I would spend more time on the restoration adding things such as clothing textures but this job was done as a favour and completed very quickly. Still, I think it came off very well.

Ottawa Heart

A couple of appreciation pics for the two great doctors from the The Ottawa Heart Institute that are keeping me kicking. They are Dr. Edward O'Brien and Dr. Michele deMargerie. (Dr. Ed is a real Jimmy Buffet fan thus the design). I really can't thank them enough.
