Slabby Takes Another Hit

Poor Davey (Oldslabsides) from RP. I've done a lot of spoofing on the ol' boy in the past four years. Someone requested another so being the accommodating type, I accepted the job. Here are the before and afters and as always...click on the image for full view.

Comics

Stills looking for a decent "comic" application. If anyone knows of one please drop me a line and let me know the name. This picture was accomplished using three or four apps I do have and while the result isn't too bad, it's still not what I'm after. Thanks to dmax at RP for posting this awesome shot of his better half.

Getting The Most Out Of A Shot

My friend, PattonFever from RP offers up another great picture to work with. This time around I thought I'd go for a dramatic yet simple effect. A little cropping and a little painting and there you have it. A pic with attitude. As always, click on image to see full size.

70s Video

Here's a little thing you can do with a picture that you've taken clowning around. Why not turn it into something like an old 70s VHS cover? Just combine the shot with a prison background, add some text and the VHS logo. To give it that aged 70s feel, just desaturate the photo a wee bit and mess with your colour balance sliders until you get that greenish tinge. That's it. You are now staring in a "B" movie thriller.

Why Waste A Good Pose

Great shot here of my cousin, Ally, only the background isn't worthy of the pose. With a little help from Google pics I was able to locate a better background photo and with a few adjustments to that picture, created what you see in photo 3.

Not Happy With Your Cut?

One of fine posters on RP just had her hair cut and offered up this photo which clearly demonstrates her disappointment. As it turns out, her loss is my gain and this is the result.

Yo Yo Yo

The Ottawa Heart Rehab threw a party for one of their own and these home girls performed their hit In Da Track. Here is a perceived cd cover for the single. Note the ice sparkles and tats....yes I said tats.

Killer Dan

In stores today. The story of a man and his soup. Bay Street would never be the same.

A little mock-up I did for our buddy Dan. Pic was taken in the woods of Eastern Ontario August, 2007.

THE LAKE

Third year running, we've just returned from White Lake and without a doubt, our family's favourite week of the year. The weather was awesome and the water was warm and clear.
Thanks again to Danny Murphy for joining us. Wouldn't be the same without you man.

Ottawa Heart Institute Poster

What you see here is the most labour intensive project I've done to date. It was commissioned by the cardiology unit at the Heart Institute as a going away gift for Dr. Tony Tang. Designing the dry mounted plaque was extremely difficult due to its massive size (48 x36) and the tweaking and positioning of the 73 photographs. Being a celebratory event, I replaced Dr. Tang's dictaphone with a vector champagne goblet. Thanks go to Dr. Michele DeMargerie who recommended me for the job and assisted in the design and Dr. Richard Davies who supplied the photos and the means to complete the job. I understand the going away celebration went well and the the gift was well received by all who attended.

Girls Just Wanna Have Fun

Girls with tiaras and wands. Not sure what that's all about but the girls love 'em. When my daughter and her friend showed up in full regalia I saw an opportunity for a picture. I call this one "Garden Faeries".

...and this one, Spellbound.

This Year's Teacher's Gifts

As in past years, we've done up little appreciation packets for the teachers that include a CD and home made peanut brittle. Here is this year's covers. Hats off to my favorite photog, Pilate, for shooting this brilliant sunset.

Another Restoration

Doing restorations is a very subjective endeavour. You have the option of attempting to restore the photo to what you believe is its original state, or, you can take the photo and slightly modernize it to give a fresh new perspective. It really comes down to what the client wants and is willing to pay for. Here I've gone the latter route and "freshened" the photo. Normally I would spend more time on the restoration adding things such as clothing textures but this job was done as a favour and completed very quickly. Still, I think it came off very well.

Thanks to Beez at RP for sharing this beautiful photo of her grandmother.

How I See America's Return to the Moon.

Thanks to RP's Pilate for this amazing photo. As soon as I saw it I envisioned a moonscape so here is my silly rendition of what the moon may look like in 2051.

Great Heron (Annimation)

Cheers to RP's greg6494 for shooting this bird. Well done. I just gave the water a little movement.

Tut, Tut....It Looks Like Rain

I'd like to thank Alfia from RP for taking such a great shot. Beautiful work. What I saw, however, was something a little different. After watching so many Pooh Bear movies with the kids, I had the feeling that I'd seen this scene before and here is what transpired. It called for a flip and a little animation.

U.S.A.

My brother, Don, is inviting the family down to America for a look-see. Here is my mock ad for the occasion. Thanks to Pilate at RP for allowing use of his picture. It's a great shot.

Don knows I'm gonna milk that hat pic for all it's worth....lol.

Ottawa Heart

A couple of appreciation pics for the two great doctors from the The Ottawa Heart Institute that are keeping me kicking. They are Dr. Edward O'Brien and Dr. Michele deMargerie. (Dr. Ed is a real Jimmy Buffet fan thus the design). I really can't thank them enough.

I do enjoy doing print ads. Thanks to PF for mugging for the camera again. This girl should be in the mags. Great expression.
